PONDA: Ponda Police on Thursday arrested a 37-year-old native of Andaman on charges of outraging modesty of a girl student while travelling in a bus from Panjim to Ponda.
According to information, the accused Ganesh Kumar Chaturvedi, residing at Old Goa, boarded the bus at Panjim on Thursday evening. While in the bus, the accused reportedly started clicking pictures of the girl who was also travelling in the same bus.
Police further said other passengers in the bus, noticing the act, confronted the accused and on reaching Ponda, handed the accused to Ponda Police. Later, the girl along with her relative filed a complaint with the police.
Police informed that two pictures were found on the cell phone of the accused.
According to information, the bus had left Panjim bus stand at about 5.30 pm and the incident was reported when the bus reached Old Goa.
Meanwhile, a man reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the Borim bridge on Thursday evening.
Ponda Police said they received a call at about 5.15 pm and a police team was sent to the site. However, the body could not be traced.
