MARGAO: Citizens have raised concerns over the spate of accidents on the Quepem-Curchorem-Sanvordem stretch after yet another accident was reported at the Tilamol junction, where two women were killed recently.
Residents feel that the Traffic Department and government have failed to anticipate the increase in traffic or regulate the same, which has led to traffic congestion and accidents.
On Thursday, an Innova car hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road at Sonfator, Tilamol, due to which she sustained injuries.
According to Quepem police, the driver Dattaprasad Sanvordekar (38), resident of Sanvordem, drove the Innova in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Sanvordem to Quepem, and at Sonfator, Tilamol, he knocked down the pedestrian.
Quepem Police have registered offences against the driver under Sections 279 and 337 of IPC. Further investigation is in progress.
