Ponda: The controversy over Goa Dairy affairs seems to be never ending and it erupted yet again when the losses reached Rs 5 crore last year.
Though the Goa Dairy MD Navso Sawanth claims he cannot be placed under suspension by RCS as per cooperative law, documents in his cabin have been seized today by the government as per HC order. The Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Society (ARCS) at Co-operative Bhavan Ponda, Pankaj Marathe complying with order of HC, on Tuesday morning initiated the procedure to take custody of Goa Dairy records. The team led by Pankaj Marathe began its work in the morning in the cabin of Goa Dairy MD Navso Sawanth which continued till late evening. The High Court of Bombay at Goa yesterday while hearing the petition of Goa Dairy MD praying for the quashing and setting aside the order of RCS Directing Administrator or Board to suspend him, noted the Administrator appointed by RCS failed to take charge of Goa Dairy affairs. The court not only questioned the government as to why the appointed Administrator of Goa Dairy had not taken charge till date, it also directed the RCS to appoint suitable officer to take the documents of Goa Dairy into safe custody. It may be recalled that in its order on August 31 RCS at Panjim ,Sanjeev Gadkar had disqualified the seven Directors of Goa Dairy Board and had appointed the Senior Government Official from Civil Supply Damodar Moraskar to take charge of the Goa Dairy as Administrator, directing him to place the MD under suspension for the irregularities in Goa Dairy affairs with respect to purchases of raw material and machineries. However despite the Administrator not taking charge of Goa Dairy, Goa Dairy MD Navso Sawanth continued to look after the affairs of Goa Dairy claiming that he was a regular employee and had not been supended by Administrator and even challenged the RCS decision disqualifying him the Bombay High Court on 3 September,. The Court which did not give interim relief to him while hearing the petition yesterday directed the RCS to take the documents of Goa Dairy in safe custody as the Administrator yet to take the charge.
The ARCS process to take custody of Documents of Goa Dairy continued till late night until the report was filed and officials were trying to find important documents from Goa Dairy with respect to purchase files. When contacted around 9 pm today ARCS Pankaj Maratha said the process to take custody of documents was in progress.
