PANJIM: Babush Monserrate on Sunday announced that his panel for CCP polls would be announced in next two days with 60 per cent of new faces.
“I have not announced my panel till now as I am having a rethink on two or three wards. I will announce my panel in two-three days,” Monserrate told Herald on Sunday.
He said the panel will have 60 per cent new faces. The St Cruz MLA said the decision on a candidate for the Mayor’s post would be taken after the polls.
“The elected representatives will decide on who should be a mayor,” he said.
Monserrate, who has been uncrowned King of CCP, has already said that he would be defeating BJP. The legislator said his victory would be similar to Arvind Kejriwal’s Delhi win that would reduce BJP to minority.
The elections for CCP are scheduled on March 6. BJP is yet to announce its panel while Congress has said that it will contest the polls. Congress leader Surendra Furtado has already said that he is with Babush group burying all the differences in the past.
The state government has already reserved 16 wards for women, ST and OBC of which 10 are ruled by the Monserrate panel.
