Demand thorough probe into 18-yr-old boy’s death

MARGAO: Residents of Mazilwaddo-Benaulim on Sunday evening marched to the Colva Police Station demanding a thorough investigation into the death of an 18-year-old local boy, William Almeida in mysterious circumstances.
During their discussions with Colva Police Station in-charge, PI Nilesh Rane, the villagers raised a host of questions and demanded total transparency in the investigation. They made it clear to the police officer that they suspected foul play behind William’s death, saying there is no proof to suggest the deceased hung himself. “If he has hung himself in the bathroom of his house, why would he destroy his SIM card. Where is the SIM card now. Why would William leave his bike at the KTC bus stand. Who brought him home and from where”, his godmother Concy Lourenco demanded to know.
She further pointed out that William’s body was lying in such a position that nobody believed it is a suicide. “The body was found lying in a sleeping position as if somebody has brought and kept him there. The rope was so thin that it could not have handled his weight”, she said.
PI Nilesh Rane gave a patient hearing and said the police would share details of the investigations. “Investigations into the case are on. We will share all information about the investigations with you”, PI Rane said.
Sources said the Colva police are investigating into all angles, including the case of the missing minor girls, where the police has registered a case of kidnapping against unknown persons. PI Rane told the people that the police would come to know the link, if any, after the girls are traced and interrogated.
