PONDA: Bhoma residents in Priol constituency who are up against the expansion of National Highway through the middle of their village have now demanded that the Legislators take up and discuss the vexatious issue during the ongoing Goa Assembly session.
At a meeting held in the village yesterday, locals discussed at length at how the disastrous development project if allowed to go ahead with would demolish over 100 houses besides ancient temples here.

They also gave a detailed information about how the proposed road alignment along the one and half km stretch would be disastrous to their village.
Leader of Bhomkars, Sanjay Naik stated that as per documents, not just three but 100 houses would be demolished and people will be rendered homeless if Government forcefully acquires land to construct a 60 meters width road.
“The old survey shows three houses but there are hundreds of houses which were constructed later. With most land recorded in the name of landlords and with no proper house documentation, the villagers will be rendered homeless,” lamented Naik.
He said several houses are located by the roadside and if the government goes ahead with the road expansion plans through the heart of the village then it would destroy their village, culture and temples.
