PANJIM: AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said the relationship between the Congress and BJP was like that of husband and wife, who knew each other’s secrets.
“I feel both the parties have a husband-wife kind of relationship; Mister and Mrs BJP-Congress. Their relation is like husband and wife, fighting inside the house. They know each other’s secrets,” said Kejriwal while addressing hundreds of AAP volunteers in Panjim.
Incidentally, AAP on Sunday announced its plan to contest the 2017 Goa Assembly election.
Kejriwal said that the BJP knows the secrets of the Congress, and the Congress of the BJP, and both parties have an unwritten understanding to rule for five years each in the country. “Someone told me that (Defence Minister) Manohar Parrikar has several files of Congress leaders in Goa, but he won’t take action against them. He will keep on threatening Congress with these files,” he said.
Kejriwal alleged that both parties share a good relationship and are fooling people. He said, “BJP and Congress have together looted people. Both parties combined are mafias; they run mafia raj.”
He said that Goans this time should leave their old political loyalties and vote for AAP to change Goa for the sake of the State.
“I was told that people are reluctant to come out in support of AAP, fearing that they will lose the benefits of government-sponsored social welfare schemes if they are spotted in an AAP group,” he said, adding, “Don’t worry, if they cancel the pension. We will give the pension from retrospective effect. Whatever benefits that were given by the current government will be resumed, and dues will also be paid.”
Kejriwal further said that the situation in Punjab was worse than Goa. He claimed that the government in Punjab had a trend of filing false cases against the people who were supporting AAP.
“Drugs are a major concern in Punjab. Police can plant drugs in your house and book you. We have told people not to get afraid. In the next six months, AAP will form the government and withdraw all the fake cases,” he said,
He recalled that a minister from the Punjab government had also filed a case against him.
Kejriwal also appealed to AAP members to quit the party if they had come only with the intention of getting a ticket.
“If someone has joined the party with the intention of getting a ticket, they may quit the party as their condition will be worse here,” Kejriwal said, adding, “Don’t join the party (AAP) for position or ticket. If you are here for ticket, then don’t come.”
He said getting an AAP ticket is like shouldering a responsibility. “Everyone has to take different responsibilities in the party. Ticket is yet another responsibility,” he said.
