MARGAO: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar on Monday said that the decision to cancel the notification covering COVID-19 treatment under Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) by the government is a clear reflection of the BJP’s pro-rich and anti-poor agenda and defective governance of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
Congress demanded that the government immediately announce a fresh scheme or package to take care of COVID treatments of common man. The party also demanded a revision of rates finalised by government for COVID treatment in the private hospitals.
“Business of people’s sickness by the BJP government has put common man under hardship and financial burden. Today, Goans are suffering due to lack of adequate health facilities and proper treatments. The sudden cancellation of the DDSSY COVID cover notification exposes the fact that ‘All is not Well’ between Dr Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane,” informed Chodankar.
“We pray to almighty to bless the people of Goa with good health and keep them away from COVID infection,” he further stated.
“We charge that it is only because of the differences cropped up between Chief Minister and Health Minister over commission sharing from the private hospitals. The government has cancelled the notification and the cancellation has exposed the BJP government of bowing to private hospitals’ pressure,” he added.
“The withdrawal of DDSSY for COVID patients vindicates the charge of Congress Party that the corrupt Chief Minister and Health Minister are busy making fortunes in this COVID-19 pandemic. The entire Cabinet ministers and the BJP office bearers are busy looting money from State treasury and have no concern for people’s health.”
“The delay in starting testing laboratory facility in Goa and purchase of equipment such as ventilators and machines in last seven months was only because there was no consensus on sharing of commission between the Chief Minister and Health Minister,” charged Chodankar.
“Sunday’s decision has exposed the corruption of the BJP government once again,” he said.
