VALPOI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office located in the old Municipal building, Valpoi has been sealed by the Valpoi municipal officials over non-payment of rent.
Market Inspector, Madhura Natekar informed that due to the non-payment of rent amounting to Rs 1.4 lakh, the civic authorities sealed the office.
“As per our records, the rent of the said premises was not paid over a long period and despite serving notices, the concerned persons failed to pay the rent and accordingly we sealed the premises under Section 147 of Goa Daman and Diu Municipalities Act 1968,” said Natekar.
Besides, the VMC officials have also sealed a shop located in the commercial building as per a decision taken at the council meeting.
The two commercial buildings were constructed to generate revenue but after the auction only a few shops were opened on a rental basis, said councillor Ramdas Shirodkar.
