Body of last missing Goan recovered

CANACONA: The body of Renuka Margutti, one of the six persons who drowned in the Nagarmadi waterfall, was recovered downstream on Tuesday morning.
In a biggest tragedy in recent times, eightGoan tourists who were part of a group of 60 other Goans were washed off by a sudden gush of water believed to be due to heavy rains at the catchment areas of the waterfall.
Two of them, however, were lucky to lay their hands on branches of trees and escaping alive to tell the horror story and near brush with death. 
By Monday five dead bodies were found and after panchanama and post mortem, they were handed over to their families and final rites were performed on Monday and Tuesday.
However Renuka Margutti, 24, was still missing when the search operation by police, fire office and naval personnel with the help of local volunteers ended Monday evening.
The search operation resumed early Tuesday morning and at 9 am the body of Renuka, a resident of Comba in Margao, was found floating down stream. The body was retrieved and sent for post mortem; after panchanama by the Karwar rural police, the body was handed over to the family.
