MAPUSA: The body of an eighty-year-old woman named Laxmi Parsekar was found in Inroshi plateau of Parse village jurisdiction in a highly-decomposed state. She was missing for the past 19 days.
According to Pernem police, they found a dead body of Laxmi, resident of Madhlawada Parse at Inroshi Plateau after searching for her for the past fortnight.
Sources informed that the lady had gone into depression and had become mentally unsound after she lost her husband. She had subsequently also lost her son a few years ago. Unable to trace her mother-in-law, her daughter-in-law had filed a missing complaint in Pernem police station on June 29.
On receiving the complaint Pernem police launched an intensive search to trace the woman.
Their search yielded results after 19 days when she was found lying in the forest in a highly-decomposed state. Unable to identify the body, due to the advanced stage of decomposition, Pernem police called in her family members, who immediately identified her on the basis of her clothes and ornaments.
Police have registered it as a case of natural death and PSI Mahesh Kerkar is investigating the matter.
