Bomb squad detects two explosives in mock drill

MARGAO: The Sagar Kavach mock drill was executed in Margao at Hospicio hospital and the South Goa collectorate on Thursday. The bomb disposal squad successfully extracted two bombs planted in both the places.

One bomb which was planted in the Hospicio hospital, beside the control room, was extracted by the squad; another explosive planted at the South Goa District Collectorate on the first floor was also detected by the BDS during the day.
Sagar Kavach is a mock drill aimed at testing the preparedness of for anti-terror response mechanism. However, the drill caused inconvenience to the people visiting at the Hospital on Thursday as the main gates of the premises were closed leaving the people in the hot sun.
Meanwhile, some of the officers who were assigned the job to be on night duty at the collectorate were allegedly found sleeping on the intervening night of Thursday. “There is lack of a sense of responsibility in the administration when it comes to crucial duties like Sagar Kavach. It is high time that the importance of the same is inculcated in them before any untoward thing happens,” said the observer.
