A 45-year-old woman from Paniwada-Borim, Ponda, who was allegedly set ablaze by her husband, died of burn injuries at GMC Hospital at Bambolim on Friday.
It may be recalled that Valgamma was seriously injured after she was allegedly set ablaze by her husband at their residence on Thursday afternoon. Ponda police had arrested Hanumant Yellappa Naguur (58) for allegedly attempting to murder his wife, who had received 90% burn injuries. Hanumant allegedly poured kerosene on his wife and set her on fire.
Ponda police, who had earlier registered a case against Hanumant as an attempt to murder, has now changed it to murder. Hanumant, who was also injured, has been admitted to GMC Hospital.
