PORVORIM: The State Cabinet on Monday approved revised rooftop solar power policy which will be implemented within next week.
Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Sudin Dhavalikar informed about the same in the legislative Assembly. The revised policy will give a boost to generation and use of green energy within the State and reduce the quantum of power purchase from outside the State, he said.

Opposition questioned the purchase of green power worth Rs 16 crore from a trader in Arunachal Pradesh instead of putting the money into solar and other green power generating projects in the State. They also demanded to know when all the government buildings will be fitted with rooftop solar power.
Intervening during the question-hour, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said as per the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) rules, it is mandatory to purchase ‘green power’ from approved traders.
The Cabinet also granted nod to reintroduce the subsidy scheme for electric vehicles (EV), albeit with reduction in subsidy amount as compared to the 2021 version. Those who have purchased their electric vehicles between August 2022 and December 2023 will be eligible to avail the scheme.
Vehicle-wise subsidy amount is as follows – two-wheelers from Rs 8,000 to Rs 15,000; three wheelers from Rs 8,000 to Rs 60,000 and four wheelers from Rs 8,000 to Rs one lakh.
In addition, those scrapping their old vehicles, will be provided incentives between Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.
