PANJIM: The Utt Goenkara has called on the government to form a Goa Mineral Development Corporation saying that the move will go a long way in helping “sustainable mining” and conserving ecology as well as giving a boost to agriculture and giving livelihood to the mining affected.

“We are sure that if the state government swears in an affidavit that it is forming the corporation and taking away the mines from all the private mining companies, the very next day the Supreme Court will lift the ban on mining,” Jatin Naik said. He called those trade unionists who were right now supporting the mining affected workers as double agents.

“I’m making an allegation that these trade union leaders have taken money from the mining companies to bring the workers on the streets to give an impression to the Supreme Court that they are affected by mining. They are being double agents,” Jatin said.
