Sting operation by media and political outfit prompts meeting

In a significant development, Canacona MLA and Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Ramesh Tawadkar held of a crucial meeting involving officials manning the border check post, local elected representatives, and prominent citizens.

This move comes in response to a sting operation carried out by media personnel and politicians, which uncovered instances of corruption at the check post. Speaking to Herald, Tawadkar revealed that he has already sought a detailed report from the heads of the relevant departments, prompted by the widespread coverage of this issue in newspapers and news channels across Goa. He stated, “I will submit the report to the Chief Secretary of the State to initiate further action against those found guilty.”

Tawadkar expressed his commitment to addressing such misconduct by government servants, emphasizing that actions tarnishing the reputation of Canacona would not be tolerated moving forward. In the meeting, Tawadkar sent a clear message to the concerned officers, emphasizing that such actions by public servants bring disrepute to the region and will not be condoned.

Recalling the sting operation conducted by media persons and AAP leaders on October 3, where an astonishing sum of Rs 1.06 lakh was allegedly discovered in the RTO booth locker. The money was later seized under the scrutiny of the Canacona police.
