CANACONA: Barely a day after Poinguinkarancho Ekvott (PE) staged a peaceful protest at Kulti plateau over government’s planned industrial estate, the PE’s secretary got a threatening calls to withdraw a RTI application in a different issue.
PE Secretary Pradeep Mokhardkar on Friday submitted a complaint to Canacona Police to file a FIR in connection with the phone calls. The complaint copies are also sent to Deputy Collector (Canacona), RTI Commissioner and the Chief Secretary.
According to a press note issued by PE represented by Deputy Sarpanch of Poinguinim Caitano Barretto, Mokhardkar received a call on his cell phone at about 12.30 pm on Friday, which threatened that he would be beaten him up and also that would be ‘finished,’ if he failed to withdraw the RTI application he had filed regarding inspection of a file of a Canacona resident.
“Mokhardkar recently lost his father and his elderly mother constantly lives in fear that these persons could physical harm him and his family,” states the press note.
“It’s our earnest request to the concerned to take action against these thugs so that all law-abiding citizens like him can live in peace and dignity,” added the press note.
