Cave discovered in Siridao

A man-made cave has been discovered in Palem-Siridao, prompting locals to demand the preservation of this age-old structure.
“This cave was in the thick bushes and was hidden for years. This cave was found when some real estate developers cleared the bushes to develop plots. The cave can now been clearly seen from the highway,” said J Shirodkar of Palem-Siridao, while speaking to Herald.
He informed that the cave is large enough to accommodate about 15 people inside.
“The history of this cave needs to be unearthed. It is a treasure for Goans and this cave needs to be preserved by giving due recognition.”
“A similar cave also exists near Mangueshi along the Kundaim slope of the highway. The government needs to take immediate steps to preserve this cave,” Shirodkar added.
Shirodkar said he had informed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) about the discovery of the cave.
“ASI officials came yesterday and took measurements of the cave,” Shirodkar said.
