MARGAO: Jonoeiros and shareholders of Cavorim Comunidade at their meeting on Sunday empowered the managing committee to enter into an agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to set up a mobile tower, to issue No Objection Certificate to develop the Oilem Tollem and also to pursue subdividing undisputed comunidade properties into plots.
It was unanimously resolved to lease 100 square metres of land near the Hindu crematorium to the BSNL to erect a mobile tower. However, certain conditions were recommended like asking for a security deposit and also negotiating the rent of Rs 5000 per month.
Shareholders opined that the rent has to be enhanced and the managing committee was asked to check how much rent was being paid for mobile towers elsewhere. It was also suggested the sharing of fees paid by other service providers be quantified as BSNL had only stated that it would be shared proportionately.
Taking into account the various cases pending and particularly the mutation cases, it was decided to enter into a dialogue with the encroachers and other litigants to see if the matter can be resolved without going to the courts.
The shareholders today empowered the managing committee to explore the possibility of sub-dividing comunidade properties over which there are no disputes and see if the sub- divided plots can be given on lease for a long term without getting into the trouble of getting the land converted to settlement zone.
