Chief Minister terms Sugarcane farmers’ protests as ‘Show-off’;

Farmers have been enjoying the money for sugarcane for last 2 years, says CM

Chief Minister
Pramod Sawant in his comment on the Sugarcane farmers’ protests at Azad Maidan
termed it as ‘Show-off’. He said that the farmers have been enjoying the money
for sugarcane for last 2 years
and implied that their protest was
unnecessary.

He highlighted the Goa government’s intention to kickstart
the Sanjeevani Sugar factory, stating that the tender for its operation would
be released within the next few days. Sawant mentioned that the tender had been
previously floated twice but failed to attract bidders, which had been
communicated to the farmers.

Sawant criticized the farmers, stating that they didn’t need to protest as they had been receiving ample financial support for the past three years without even cultivating sugarcane. He assured them that they would continue to receive funds without any disruptions.
