Old Goa Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against three unidentified persons for allegedly cheating a woman from Chimbel of ₹1,39,000 in a case involving an online matrimonial scam.
According to police, the accused posed as a prospective matrimonial match, a courier company employee, and a Customs officer to gain the victim’s trust and convince her to make multiple payments. The woman was allegedly told that a parcel containing gold and cash had been sent to her and that certain charges needed to be paid to facilitate its delivery.

Believing the claims to be genuine, the victim transferred the amount as instructed. However, the promised parcel was never delivered, and the suspects subsequently became unreachable.
Based on the complaint, Old Goa Police have initiated an investigation to trace the accused and determine the modus operandi of the fraudsters. Authorities have once again urged citizens to remain cautious while interacting with unknown persons online and to verify claims before making any financial transactions.
