Arpora-Nagoa Panchayat Tells Goa HC It Will Deny Trade Licences to Businesses in Illegal Structures

The Arpora-Nagoa Village Panchayat has informed the Goa High Court that it will not renew trade licences for commercial establishments operating from illegal constructions, in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) concerning unauthorised structures in the area.

During the hearing, the panchayat assured the court that notices would be issued to owners of illegal constructions and that appropriate action would be initiated in accordance with the law.

The statement was made in the course of proceedings on a PIL highlighting the issue of illegal constructions and seeking strict enforcement against violators. The panchayat’s assurance is expected to strengthen regulatory oversight and curb unauthorised commercial activity.
