This deplorable conditions of roads is primarily due to lack of proper supervision during construction/hot mixing, usage of substandard material by contractors to compensate for the kickbacks they pay the higher authorities and as a result compromising on quality.
The vehicle owners, who have to endure back rattling drives and damage to their vehicles, expect a decent motorable road to drive/ride on after paying high road taxes.
Many motorists/riders have lost their life or are maimed due to these bad conditions. The PWD/GSIDC should take a leaf out of the B.R.O (Border Roads Organization’s) book which built the Verna to Varnapuri junction road as an example of good workmanship and engineering skills. This road is about fifteen years old and has stood the test of time and the monsoons.
