The editorial couldn’t have put it more bluntly, yes, “Motorable roads are a right, and we must have it”. (Herald September 30, 2020). In fact, the sad state of the roads in Goa is indicative of the general state of affairs in many other cities and States in the country.
I think it has been rightly stated that, the reason for the present state of affairs, is “because the administrative system is as potholed at the roads. Very simply, there is no accountability in the government”.

Take the roads in Mumbai for instance. A large number of roads continue to be ridden with potholes and craters throughout the year. But, the authorities remain unmoved. Several precious lives have been lost on account of the potholes. But, no matter how much of criticism is heaped on the authorities, it does not matter one bit to them.
There is just no accountability! One fails to understand, why the citizens should be made to keep fighting for such utilities when the authorities continue to collect taxes. When will the authorities wake up one wonders.
