The entire stretch of NH 17 from Cortalim junction to the Verna slope has virtually been converted giving it an active war zone look going by the presence of unguarded heavy machinery at the new Zuari bridge site. The bridge construction-related workers move on the road while heavy machinery also moves on the road edge even while heavy traffic moves on both sides at high speed.
Apart from the motorists being subjected to dust pollution, this construction site has turned itself into a very risky and hazardous site. It is mandatory and required as per law that the construction site should be shielded by the contractor keeping road safety in mind. As danger lurks here, politicians and bureaucrats happily ease past in their chauffeured cars showing least concern to the safety lapse by the Zuari Bridge Contractor.
