Yet another accident and one more life is lost and others are battling for their lives in the hospital. The accident took place on the newly built Navelim bypass road. The day the bypass road was opened for the vehicles, the villagers have been complaining to make it more commuter friendly.
Since there is no service road along the bypass road, commuters have to cross the bypass road to enter their villages. Normally, along the highways, barricades are put on both the sides so that no one crosses the highway but western bypass does not seem to have such protection on either side.

Due to faulty designing and inadequate engineering techniques, this bypass road at Navelim has become an accident-prone road. So many accidents have taken place on this bypass road, yet the Public Works Department has been lethargic in resolving the issue. And due to their negligence, innocent people lose their lives as it happened on November 18. Hope some preventive measures will be taken by the Public Works Department along the bypass road in the days to come.
