The Verna-Nuvem area along the NH17 is an accident-prone area with the Nuvem bypass joining the highway at this point. Also the vehicles coming from Woodbourne/IAM/Tata showroom side road make it a highly vulnerable accident spot.
The road authorities without any foresight and application of mind have ended the traffic lane divider at this point which makes it very difficult for motorists to take U-turn and proceed northwards as there is a bus stop in the area. The one-way road is a good idea but there should be some openings at strategic places such as PCE College/ Leonoras/ Hero showroom area to facilitate smooth flow of traffic.
There are innumerable instances of two-wheelers using the “No Entry” side to avoid the long detour to go the Fr Agnel Ashram and turning back, which can also result in a major accident. If no openings can be kept then the authorities should terminate the traffic lane divider before the junction and the bus stop.
