I had received a water bill for 245 days last week and the last day of payment was 1.6.2016. The amount of the bill is more than Rs. 8000. On enquiry with the PWD officials as to how the bill is so hefty and the reason for the, their answer is that it is not their fault. JICA officials gave a report after long delay.
I don’t know how JICA is connected to water bills. On further enquiry it is given to understand that no proper staff and very few meter readers are present in the department. On demand, they have calculated the 800 units as follows – First 123 units @ Rs 2.50, 82 units @Rs 5, 204 units @Rs 10 and the remaining 400 units @ Rs 15. PWD officials have transferred their problems and JICA’s delay on to consumers.
Whatever may be the reason for the delay, they should have divided the period i.e. 245 days into 30 days or 60 days (per bill) and calculated the amount accordingly. Even if they have kept a 60 day period for one bill, the amount would have come to less than half the amount for which they have issued a bill.
Now again, after 4 months, another bill will be issued with the same amount. This is day time robbery and white loot from consumers.
So consumers please see your bill and calculate the amount and find out the difference and raise your voice against the government/PWD who is taking advantage of us. My sincere request to PWD officials is to please stop this injustice towards innocent people who are an easy target!
