Civil Supplies crackdown on hotels, 73 cylinders seized
MARGAO (HR): Officials of the Civil Supplies department cracked a whip against hotels and eateries using domestic LPG cylinders in their premises for commercial use.
Led by Civil Supplies inspector, John Fernandess, Salcete taluka, the team seized as many as 73 domestic LPG cylinders in coordination with officials from Bharat Petroleum.
The team raised hotels in the heart of the Commercial Capital and later checked establishments at Borda, Fatorda, Madel, besides some hotels in the villages of Colva and Davorlim.
Inspector John Fernandes informed that the raid was conducted following complaints from NGOs that many establishments were using domestic LPG cylinders in the commercial establishments in flagrant violation of the rules. He said the rampant use of domestic LPG cylinders in commercial establishments have hit supply of cylinders for domestic use.
The Civil supplies inspector has warned erring hoteliers and owners of eateries that the department will carry out random checking of the premises to unearth illegal use of the domestic cylinders.
