PANJIM: In a bid to allow completion of the syllabus and grant more time to students to prepare, the State’s board examinations for Class X and Class XII have been delayed and will now be held in April-May, 2021. The government has granted approval for the dates.
As per the schedule announced by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE), the exams for the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) will be held from April 26 to May 15, 2021, while the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams, are scheduled between May 13 and May 31, next year.
The practical examination for Class XII will be conducted from April 1 to April 24, 2021, whereas Class X students will answer their practical exams from April 5 to April 30.
GBSHSE chairman Ramakrishna Samant said the government has approved the proposal and the dates and the timetable will be notified by January 15, 2021.
He said the decision has been taken considering the delay in completing the syllabus and to grant more time for students to prepare. “We have to give sufficient time to the students to prepare for the Board examination, which is a crucial year of their academic life,” Samant said.
Nearly 36,000 students – 18,000 each in Class X and Class XII – are likely to answer the 2020-21 board examinations next year.
