Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar along with Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar on Monday launched the GED Connect Android Mobile App which allows consumers to pay electricity bills from their cell phones.
The app has been developed by REC PDCL and their technological partner TATA Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. The key features are access to bill details, payment consumption history from mobile device, tracking of complaints notification registered at call centre.
“Through this app consumers can make payment of their bills online. Not only this, it will also make it easy to know the history of the bill,” Parrikar said after launching the app. “As of now 4.2 percent of customers pay their bills online which gives revenue 24 percent that is Rs 30 crore,” he said
Madkaikar said there are already 1 lakh customers registered through their mobile numbers with the Electricity Department.
Customers will also get consumption history from their mobile device and pay their bill on the move. Customers can register their mobile and get notifications through SMS for planned shutdown and services. The customers can also track their complaint notifications resisted at a call centre.
The GED connect app is currently available to android based mobile devices and on can download the app by visiting www.goaelectricity.gov.in/.
