PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today held a meeting with the representatives of Muslim community from Goa at his official residence Altinho in the City.
The meeting was called to interact and discuss with the Muslim representatives the issues regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act passed by the Union Government and National Population Register and National Register of Citizens.
During the course of the meeting the representatives of the Muslim community brought to the notice of the Chief Minister about the fear and apprehension in the minds of the Muslim community over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR).
After giving a patient hearing to the concern voiced by the representatives of Muslim community the Chief Minister informed that the Muslims residing in Goa should not panic over the Citizenship Amendment Act as it will not affect them.
The Chief Minister urged the representatives of Muslim community to put forth before him their issues if any for redressal. He said, Goa is known for peace and harmony world over and as such the community should not resort to agitation and indulge in other unproductive activities.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Jinah, Chairman of All India Haj Committee, besides members of the Haj Committee Goa, Maulavi Shaikh, Riyaz Beig, Asif Ali, Mehaboob Makandar, Gause Maulavi among others.
