PANJIM: The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) is expected to decide the fate of former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda-owned company’s offshore casino vessel after the election process as the file is being examined by CM Laxmikant Parsekar.
Sources said that Advocate General Saresh Lotlikar had recently sent his opinion to the CM for a final decision. “The Home Department had sent the file to the CM to decide on granting a licence to the sixth casino last October, and thereafter forwarded to the AG for his opinion. The file is now back with the CM for a final decision,” said a senior official.
However, since the election code of conduct is still in force, it is learnt that the State has kept its decision pending. “We are examining the file. A decision can be taken only after the code is lifted,” he said.
Golden Globe Hotels Private Limited had last year moved the High Court of Bombay at Goa alleging that the government had failed to decide on its application for the renewal of its offshore license. The company had submitted that it had paid around Rs 48 crore dues to the State government. In January, additional AG D Lawande had informed the court that authorities will decide on the application and other related applications within four weeks.
