PANJIM: Applications for conversion of land will be decided by the District Magistrates on the basis of available information if authorities responsible for issuing NOCs and submitting reports and recommendations fail to do so within 20 days.
The Department of Revenue has proposed an amendment to this effect to the Goa Land Revenue (Conversion of use of land and non-agricultural assessment) Rules, 1969. The draft amendment is open for public objections and suggestions for a period of 15 days.

The amendment in Rule 4 of the Goa Land Revenue (Conversion of use of land and non-agricultural assessment) Rules, 1969, states that report/NOC/recommendation shall be obtained from the Town and Country Planning Department, Forest Department, Inspector of Survey and Land Records and Mamlatdar, who shall submit their report/ NOC/recommendation within a period of 20 days from the date of reference made by the Collector.
“In case the report is not submitted within 20 days, the Collector shall proceed to decide the application for conversion on the basis of the information as available after expiry of the said period of 20 days,” states the draft rule.
All objections and/or suggestions to the said draft rules may be forwarded to the Secretary (Revenue), Government of Goa, Revenue Department, Secretariat, Porvorim before the expiry of 15 days so that they may be taken into consideration at the time of finalisation of the said draft Rules, states the notification.
