MARGAO: A review meeting was held in Colva to assess the cleaning work that was carried out at the Colva lake, ‘Campo Tollem’ under the Amrit Sarovar Mission.

Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas met the locals, the farmers and former panch members and sought their suggestions for the beautification of the lake and assured them that there would be no concrete utilised in the project. Viegas proposed creating a bird nesting area, a viewing and walking facility for the public and also said the area would be illuminated.
Earlier, the weeds from the surface of the lake had been removed, the embankment along the lake was de-silted, the bushes along the roadside were cleared, the sluice gates were opened and the mud between the sluice pillars was removed as well.
Viegas added that a total of five lakes in the Benaulim constituency will be cleaned and beautified. He also assured the locals that the traditional Ganpati Visarjan at Vodlem Tollem (Tollembandh) in Benaulim would take place during the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
