PANJIM: Goa government has constituted a State Level Steering Committee (SLSC) under chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to prepare an action plan for climate change, as per the directives of the Union Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).
The 24-member committee has been constituted for National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC and will recommend a relevant climate change (adaptation/mitigation) projects to the National Implementing Entity (NIE) that is National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for onward submission to the MoEFCC for consideration.
“MoEFCC has established the NAFCC for scaling-up climate change adaptation interventions in accordance with National Action Plans for Climate Change (NAPCC) and State Action Plans for Climate Change (SAPCC),” Environment Director Srinet Kothwale said in a notification issued on Thursday.
In accordance with the NAFCC guidelines, a SLSC is to be constituted under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary and representatives of relevant departments and NABARD to co-ordinate the preparation and submission of the projects in the State.
