PANJIM: As it gears up to formulate Export Strategy for the State, Government has constituted ten-member committee under Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma (IAS) to focus on the export promotion issues.
The Committee has to review all trade related issues including issues of logistics exports and service exports and is also an implementing agency for the export strategy for the State.
“The Government is committed to develop an export strategy that will benefit local exporters and help the State realise its export potential. The objective is to identify the potential export sectors; identify issues related to government agencies and also suggest measures to boost exports from the State,” the note issued by the Industries Department, reads.
Federation of Indian Exports Organization (FIEO), an organization under Ministry of Commerce has been appointed by Ministry as the nodal agency for formulation of export strategy for Bihar, Delhi, Goa, Karnataka, Telangana and Uttarakhand.
Active participation is solicited from stakeholders including exporters, importers, Customs House agents, freight forwarders, transporters, export promotion councils, and industries trade associations etc.
The members of the committee include secretaries for finance, agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, mines, public works and tourism. Secretary for Industries/ State Export Commissioner is the convenor and Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, Mumbai is the co-convenor.
