CUJIRA: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said the government is working on introducing a common indoor sports facility at the Cujira Integrated School Complex.
The Chief Minister went to say that the government will also be working on setting up a common kitchen facility at the school complex through Akshay Patra for midday meals.
“The State government is working on proving common indoor sports facility at the educational complex for students of all the school situated there. The government is also working on land availability so that more schools can be shifted from the city,” Parrikar said, while addressing the gathering at the inaugural of KTCL bus service from Cujira to Panjim.
“Thinking on a common sports facility is on but due to the National Games coming up in the State, the Sports Department is currently busy. Common indoor facilities for students are in the planning phase,” he said
Parrikar further said that a common library or a common electronic compact library will also be thought of, and that the government is working on setting up a common kitchen facility at the complex through Akshay Patra for midday meals. “Also the complex will be well connected as the new highway expansion will pass just next to the complex” Parrikar
However, expressing dissatisfaction he said he was shocked to know that 70,000 households in the State still do not have toilet facilities. “It was revealed in a meeting on the open defecation free programme that 70,000 households in Goa still do not have toilets in their homes. The government is passionate to make Goa OFF free by October 2,” Parrikar said.
The Chief Minister also said that State would construct toilets for all those 70,000 households by October 2.
