PANJIM: All India Congress Committee (AICC) in charge for Goa, Dinesh Gundu Rao, will visit all 40 Assembly constituencies from next week to review the party’s organisation as the Congress shifts gears in preparation for the 2022 elections.
During his visit, Rao will hold meetings with Block Congress Committees in all constituencies and review the party organisation at the grassroots level. The meetings will follow a major reshuffle in the party.
The AICC in-charge on Wednesday held a virtual meeting with the State co-ordination committee constituted to mobilise party membership in Goa. GPCC president Girish Chodankar, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat, co-ordination committee chairman Ramakant Khalap, co-chairman and MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha, former minister Aleixo Sequeira and other members participated in the deliberations.
The meeting was also attended by the State observer for membership campaign Prakash Rathod, North Goa observer Mansoor Khan and South Goa observer Sunil Hanumannvar.
Rao has directed all five MLAs, MP and GPCC office-bearers to go to the field and develop a direct connect with the people. He stated that after reviewing the 40 block committees, there will be a revamp of the party organisation at the block, district and State level with re-constitution of the committees.
Rao also categorically stated that a performance-based audit will be done of all the party office-bearers and only those who are active will be promoted, whereas the non-performing members will be given some other task in the party.
There will be review of the district Congress committees as well as the frontal organisations and necessary changes will be done wherever required. “We are focusing on all the 40 constituencies and will work hard to win the trust and faith of the people,” Rao said.
The meeting discussed commemorating 75 years of Goa Revolution Day on June 18. Congress will also join the all-India protest against rising fuel prices on Friday as per directions given by the All India Congress Committee. Every Block Congress committee in Goa will stage demonstrations in front of petrol pumps in their constituencies.
