In a move to bring all Borkars under single organisation, a World Borkars Convention will be organised at Borim in Ponda taluka on December 26, 27 and 28.
At the inaugural function, Dr Nitin Borkar was elected president, State Election Commissioner Prafulla Borkar, SP Vishram Borkar, RTO officer Prakash Borkar, Journalist Ramesh Vaskar and Deputy Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar were also elected.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Ramakant Borkar expressed happiness that all Borkars spread far and wide will get together and said that it was a matter of great honour for the Borkars to hold such a convention.
Others who spoke on the occasion are Dr Borkar, Vishram Borkar, Prafulla Borkar and Prakash Borkar.
Earlier, Dr Borkar welcomed the gathering, while Devidas Devari introduced the guests. Manohar Borkar compered, while Shaila Borkar proposed the vote of thanks.
