MARGAO: Margao police are groping in the dark over the escape of the undertrial from police custody in the Margao court building.
Though the accused Irshad Sangur was seen with his close relative near the Hari Mandir area soon after his escape, police have not yet summoned the relative to the police station.
Questions are raised whether the escape was planned given that the accused was found moving in a jacket type dress. Questions are also raised as to who helped the accused by providing the dress after his escape.
When contacted, Margao PI Sudesh Naik admitted that though the accused was seen moving around the Hari Mandir area by a journalist, the police have not yet called the relative of the accused for questioning. “The police are keeping a track on the movements of the accused. We hope to achieve a breakthrough in the case”, PI Naik said.
