PANJIM: The Goa State Committee of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and Coordination Committee of Goa Government Employees have condemned the government for deciding against implementing the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission to the employee of various government corporations, autonomous bodies, municipalities, panchayats, societies and other public sector undertakings.
AITUC General Secretary Christopher Fonseca said that the decision of the government is totally unfair and improper.
“The government must know that recommendations of the earlier pay commission have been extended to these employees from time to time and suddenly to draw a line of discrimination between the government employees and the employees of various government corporations, autonomous bodies, municipalities, panchayats, societies and other public sector undertakings is biased and prejudicial,” Fonseca said.
He said that the employees have a right to 7th pay scale as the present salary is wholly inadequate considering the inflation ridden economy when the price of essential commodities, fuel, petrol, LPG cylinders, heath care, transport, education have gone beyond the reach of salaried and working people.
The trade union asked the government to review its decision and demand immediate implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations to all the employees.
