PORVORIM: The Porvorim Police have registered a case of cheating against couple on Monday.
As per the information given by Porvorim Polcie tourist Shabbir Merchant and his wife entered the casino in Majestic hotel on 28th August 2013 and used fake chips( coins) worth Rs 45000 ~Rs.10000×4, 5000×1~ while playing and recovered the money from the counter of the casino .
Meanwhile the staff on duty at Majestic hotel realized that they have been cheated and informed the matter to the management .The said information was passed to Casino Pride. When the said couple entered the casino Pride at Panjim on 1st September the staff on duty recognized the couple and detained them.
Later the complaint was filed with Porvorim Police, who registered the case under section 420, 423 and 467 of Indian Penal code. They were produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class on September 2 and were remanded to one-day police custody.
PSI Vilesh Dhurbatkar is investigating the case.
