COVID-19: 513 new cases reported, 2 die

PANJIM: In a major relief against the backdrop of increasing COVID-19 deaths reported in the last few weeks, the State recorded only two deaths in the last 24 hours. A 73-year-old male from Sanguem and 79-year-old female from Canacona died due to COVID-19 on Thursday late evening and Friday morning respectively.

The Health Bulletin on the status of COVID-19 in the State also reveals that the State recorded 513 new cases on Friday, taking the tally of total active cases to 5,009. Likewise, 479 COVID-19 patients recovered with total recovery count touching 29,004. The recovery rate of the State stands at 84.18 per cent.

Total confirmed cases stand at 34,455 whereas 442 mortalities were reported till the release of the bulletin on Friday evening. September month was recorded as the killer month with maximum 233 out of the total deaths reported during this period.

On Friday alone, 84 persons were hospitalised for undergoing treatment for COVID-19 while 237 opted for home isolation.

On the bed capacity at COVID Care Centres, the North Goa has 249 beds vacant out of a total 545 while in South, 621 out of a total 1006 are vacant.
