QUEPEM: The sighting of a crocodile near the Tilamol High School caused some panic among the teachers and locals around 9.30 am, on Friday.
The teachers immediately informed the Forest Department. Later, the Forest officials seized the reptile and released it into the waters of the dam in Sanguem.
The crocodile was noticed by school peon Conceicao Fernandes, who had gone to throw out the garbage. She came and informed the teachers.
By the time the Forest officials arrived, the news had spread around the village and locals gathered to watch the crocodile.
A Tilamol local Rocky Fernandes said that the crocodile was around three feet long and could have ventured out in the village after the river swelled due to the heavy rains.
