PANJIM: Curca-Bambolim-Talaulim gram sabha has unanimously resolved once again to oppose the inclusion of the village in the Greater Panjim Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA). A special gram sabha convened last month had also resolved to oppose GPPDA.
All 11 elected panchas were present for the gram sabha in which local MLA of St Andre constituency, despite special invite, remained absent.
The villagers strongly opposed to the PDA stating it would be a disaster for the village and nothing else.
“We want our village, salt pans, our mountains and peace in the village. PDA is a back door entry to the land sharks and nothing else, PDA is not constituted in the interest of the villagers but it is with the vested interest”, most of the villagers tuned in same voice.
Sarpanch of village Panchayat, Maria Leena Da Cunha said that the first resolution which was taken in the gram sabha in the month of January this was conveyed to the Government by a letter on February 7, 2018 while the first representation was made on November 14, 2017 to the Government.
“We have been objecting since November 2017 to the inclusion of village in GPPDA, despite that the PDA has been imposed on the villagers against the wish of the people of village,” Sarpanch said.
She said that the representation was also made to the Minister of Town and Country Planning department and again now the resolution taken on Sunday will be also forwarded to him.
Villagers have asked local MLA not to fall prey under the pressure techniques of the Government and TCP Minister.
“It is very sad that Minister of TCP is threatening MLA of St Cruz on the floor of the house that he has to also resign as MLA if resigned from PDA as a member. We want to know which rule says this?”, one of the villager said.
Curca-Bambolim and Talaulim has approximate population of about 10,000 that has maximum population of Schedule Tribe and fishermen community.
