CURCHOREM: After languishing vacant for nearly a year, the Curchorem Cacora Municipal Council has successfully leased out commercial premises in the Administrative building and the adjacent food court. Council Chairman Pradeep Naik and local MLA Nilesh Cabral addressed a press conference to announce the lease agreements. Previous attempts to tender these spaces failed as there was no response from the public.
The Food Court, featuring 33 stalls, 59 platforms, and one water counter, has been awarded to P M Detective Security Services for a period of five years. On the other hand, the commercial premises in the administrative building, comprising 10 shops, two theaters, and one restaurant, have been leased to J M D Developers for a period of 20 years. Chairman Naik expressed optimism about the financial stability this move would bring to the council. He detailed that the council would receive Rs 1.5 lakh every month from the food court, while the shops, theaters, and restaurant would contribute Rs 19.50 lakh annually. There is a provision for a five percent increase in rentals each year for all the allotted premises. Additionally, the lessees are responsible for maintaining the premises, covering water and electricity bills, and ensuring security.
