CURCHOREM: The Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council decided to impose hefty fine on the people who fail to segregate the garbage before handing it over to garbage collectors.
After the council meeting on Wednesday, Municipal Chief Balkrishna (Pinty) Hodarkar said, “People must hand over the garbage to us after segregating it properly, so that it, we can dispose it in a proper manner. The fine amount has not been fixed yet, but it will be finalised soon after taking everyone into confidence and our contractor would be authorised to collect it.”
The council also took the resolution to charge Rs 5,000 for water connection and Rs 5,000 to issue NOC for electricity connection for unauthorised structures in one’s own property.
“If the roof is of tiles, we will charge Rs 5000 each for water and electricity connections, but if the roof is of slab then the fees would be Rs10,000 for water and Rs10,000 for electricity connection. If the structure is having a floor, then we will charge them double fees. The amount will be adjusted at the time of regularisation,” Hodarkar said and informed that demolition orders will be issue to the illegal structures even if they are given water and electricity connection.
Regarding dog menace in the town, Hodarkar said that they have taken a decision to speak to the authorities of local Animal Care Centre and find out if they have sufficient space to house them.
