MAPUSA: Ten suspected cases of dengue have been detected across Bardez. This was revealed at a meeting on vector borne diseases control held at the Mapusa Deputy Collectors office on Wednesday evening.
The meeting was attended by the doctors from the Primary Health Centres across Bardez.
At the meeting, the doctors presented the figures on dengue and malaria cases in their respective villages. They said that the panchayat committees need to play a vital role in controlling vector borne diseases.
They also requested for an independent meeting with the BDOs and the sarpanchs and deputy sarpanchs to create awareness at the village level.The doctors suggested to Dy Collector Sudhir Kerkar that a workshop should be held for the Mapusa Municipal councillors to create awareness on the prevention of vector borne diseases.
“In Bardez, malaria and dengue cases are in control. We have decided to have a meeting with the BDO from Bardez on Thursday. We will request the BDO to have a meeting with the sarpanchs and deputy sarpanchs in Bardez and we will check out the mechanism to reach each house at the village level to create awareness on the prevention of vector borne diseases,” Kerkar said.
