CURCHOREM: Curchorem all set to observe “Janta Curfew” on Sunday to fight coronavirus by adhering to the call given by the government not to venture out of the houses between 7 am and 9 pm.
“In view of the rapidly spreading coronavirus pandemic and for the safety of the people, the market association will fully support to observe “Janta Curfew,” Curchorem Merchant Association President Rocha Pereira said and urged all the owners of the establishments including the general vendors/traders to abide the decision as responsible citizens to stem the spread of the virus.
Sources at Curchorem-Sanvordem railway station said that all the passenger trains including locals would be suspended from 7 am onwards and only those trains which are already left and running will arrive and depart till their respective destinations.
“We spray entire station premises every day and particularly ticket counter sprayed before arrival and after departure of every passenger trains,” the official said and informed that train No 07309 from Yeswanthpur Bangalore to Vasco and train No 07310 vice versa has been suspended till March 31.
Officials at Curchorem Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) bus stand said that they are every day sanitizing the premises at least thrice a day and besides the buses, the ticket counter particularly after departure of every bus.
Meanwhile, authorities at Curchorem railway station complained that small vendors/traders put their waste in the dustbins which are installed outside the railway station for use of the general public. “We are facing difficult to clear it as municipal authorities are not clearing them and these bins are mostly used by vendors/traders to put their waste which are installed for the general public,” he said.
When contacted, Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council Chairperson Balkrishna (Pinty) Hodarkar assured to look into the matter and act accordingly.
